Coming Attractions- Predator: Badlands

 

Release Date- November 7, 2025

Predator’s quiet resurgence on Hulu over the past couple of years is doing wonders for the franchise. Prey was phenomenal, easily the second best film in the series next to the ‘87 original. Predator: Killer Of Killers merged three separate stories with a good amount of emotional depth for one hell of a finale, complete with some cool mid-credits shots with main characters from the past. 

Prey and Killer Of Killers throughly showed and explored Predator’s rich lore and detailed history throughout different time periods. Sure, they showed hints of brutal centuries-old reigns of terror in Predator 2 and Predators (2010), but with Prey and Killer Of Killers, you actually get to see everything unfold in real time.

Badlands is loaded with potential. Going by the trailer, it’s going to be a bigger and more epic Predator film compared to the previous live action installments. Elle Fanning’s Thia injects some Alien DNA into the movie, and there’s some promise revolving around a storyline featuring a Weyland-Yutani android teaming up with a young Predator, who’s out to prove himself. Hopefully, Badlands knocks it out of the park, because there’s a feeling of positivity for The Predator series FINALLY going in the right direction after so many misfires.

Coming Attractions- We Bury The Dead

 

Release Date- January 2, 2026

There’s no denying the post-apocalyptic landscape for We Bury The Dead looks great in the trailer. Usually, I prefer zombie films with a more serious tone. Daisy Ridley’s Ava searching for her husband? It’s a simple and effective storyline. Of course, I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I’m already hoping she’ll find him alive and well, knowing Ava will have to fight through a mess of vicious attacks from zombies and other dangerous obstacles. 

The story will obviously go one of two ways: Ava finds her husband, alert (or alert enough) and normal, and the movie concludes with a triumphant and teary reunion. The second possible route? Ava’s husband is infected, and she’ll be the one, who’s forced to murder him, saving herself, while also delivering a gut-wrenching mercy killing. Either way, I’m looking forward to We Bury The Dead, and there’s a chance it could be one of the early sleeper hits for horror movies next year.

Coming Attractions- Shelby Oaks

 

Release Date- October 24, 2025

I’m always a sucker for horror movies about a small town with a dark past, a town that’s also hiding insidious secrets from the outside world. While I’m not completely blown away by the trailer for Shelby Oaks, I’m hoping there’s a chance it’ll be a decent or solid horror flick. Mixing in found-footage with clips from the news adds more realism to Shelby Oaks. My only concern is, they’ll use one too many jumpscares, and hopefully they won’t settle for the need to rely on the usual found-footage cliches.

Coming Attractions- Psycho Killer

 

Release Date- February 20, 2026

A creepy and unnerving trailer for Psycho Killer. Georgina Campbell’s Jane is obviously way in over her head. She’s chasing a sadistic killer, but she’s motivated by vengeance to catch the man, who murdered her husband in front of her.

The big question is, how far is Jane willing to go to stop the killer? She’ll have to go down a rabbit hole filled with evil and satanism, and I’m wondering if Jane has some kind of personal connection to the killer. Maybe there’s a specific reason why he chose her? Psycho Killer’s first trailer is fantastic. If we’re comparing vibes and similarities, it’s easy to point to Longlegs and Se7en for this one, and Gavin Polone’s directorial debut has all the makings of being something special. 

Coming Attractions- Cold Storage

 

Release Date- February 6, 2026

Lots of nasty gore, exploding bodies, AND a good cast? I’m all in for Cold Storage. It’s a completely bonkers trailer, loaded with tons of silly and over the top carnage, and some good laughs. The teaser also shows signs of a fun and energetic horror comedy, featuring a grisly and morbid sense of humor.

I’ve always been a big fan of David Koepp. He’s the author of the Cold Storage novel, and he wrote the screenplay, so you have to believe it’ll be a faithful adaptation of the source material. I’m going to put the book on my must-read list, because Cold Storage has all the right ingredients for a memorable film.

Coming Attractions- Send Help

 

Release Date- January 30, 2026 

I’ll watch anything with Sam Raimi’s name attached to it. The trailer for Send Help is absolutely nuts. During the opening moments, you might get the impression it’s a trailer for some kind of quirky comedy about a nerdy and shy employee fighting back against her asshole boss, but the chaos and the madness hits at the right moment.

Some good laughs for a more aggressive and demented version of Rachel McAdams turning the tables on her boss, the egotistical bully with a god complex. Linda Liddle is a fitting name for McAdams’ character, the mousy employee, who’s in a position to toy with and punish O’Brien’s Bradley. The dark humor in the trailer is hilarious, and I’m almost sure the hand sticking out of the sand is a nod to the original Evil Dead’s poster.

Coming Attractions- Keeper

 

Release Date- November 14, 2025

Osgood Perkins consistently delivers unique and dark horror films. The trailer for Keeper is cleverly put together, giving off the impression that you’re watching two trailers in one. It starts off showing Liz’s point of view for what’s going on in the marriage. After that, they show Malcolm’s side of the story, more startling and creepy images, and it’s clear Liz and Malcolm are going through a rough patch.

Keeper’s trailer shows a lot, but you’re still not entirely sure about what’s going on here. Lots of teasing for a mysterious, dark, and creepy horror film about a married couple fighting off malevolent forces in a quiet and isolated setting. A November release date seems kind of odd for this one, but I’m still hoping for the best.

Coming Attractions- Black Phone 2

 

Director- Scott Derrickson 

Release Date- October 17, 2025

Ethan Hawke’s excellent performance was the big highlight in the original Black Phone. Hawke’s The Grabber was a villain, who was equal parts creepy and menacing, and the mask was the perfect accessory.

Heavy Freddy Krueger-esque vibes for the sequel. They’re going with the supernatural route for The Grabber, and the snowy setting looks like a good fit for this one. Considering the fact that The Grabber is now able to attack his victims in their dreams, I’m guessing this won’t be a one and done sequel. 

I honestly don’t have a problem with the possibility of more Black Phone films. Of course, keeping the core together is important. After the original Sinister and the first Black Phone film, it’s easy to see Scott Derrickson and Ethan Hawke’s potential as a promising actor/director duo. On the writing side of things, if Robert Cargill is still involved with the scripts, we’re hopefully looking at a horror franchise that won’t completely fall off the rails after two films.

I ran across The Boy From Below on Bloody Disgusting’s Twitter page. I’ve never seen the movie, but apparently The Boy From Below is a retelling of The Wicked One (2017).

Eh, I guess The Boy From Below could be a decent enough film? Halloween, the small town haunted by gruesome murders, and the tragic story of a scream queen B-movie actress are all good ingredients for a slasher. Add in Felissa Rose and Dee Wallace, and there’s a chance they might have something here. I don’t have high expectations for this, but The Boy From Below could possibly satisfy the October/Halloween season fix for horror movies, and maybe that’s enough.

It’s that time of year again!

I’m kind of surprised it took them this long to go with a full-on Halloween theme, but I’m always ready for another V/H/S film. You can always count on V/H/S to deliver a new movie during Halloween season, when the bigger horror franchises are on a hiatus, taking a break, or if we’re just waiting on the next sequel or a reboot. Yeah, I know the V/H/S films can be really hit and miss overall, or a bit too scattershot, but at least it’s something to look forward to for horror fans every year.

The trailer is completely bonkers as expected. Lots of violence and teases for gory madness, and I’m interested to see where they go with the trick-or-treating stuff. Also, it’s cool to see Paco Plaza’s name attached to this one, because I’ve always been a big fan of the first two [REC] films. 

Coming Attractions- Dream Eater

Release Date- October 24, 2025

Giving away too many jump scares in a trailer always annoys me. I understand the need for selling the movie, but jump scares are supposed to be a surprise. After watching this trailer, I know what’s coming for more than one scene, and it’s kind of a bummer. 

Dream Eater lays the groundwork for giving Alex’s girlfriend a logical reason for recording. She has to document his sleepwalking episodes to get a better understanding of his condition. The story takes a sinister turn, because it’s clear Alex is being targeted by some kind of demon, so Alex’s girlfriend needs to keep the cameras rolling for proof. One big positive in the trailer is, there’s always a reason or a need to record everything, and that’s important for a found-footage film.

I want to see Dream Eater, but at the same time, I don’t have high hopes for it. I’m guessing it could be a decent enough found-footage horror film. But the trailer gives off strong been there, done that vibes, and I’m already leaning towards Dream Eater ending with an ominous and unresolved cliffhanger.

Release Date- World Premiere At FrightFest London On August 22, 2025

It’s easy to pick up on the strong similarities that are connected to the Saw franchise. The big difference is, John Kramer (or Jigsaw) tried to be more enlightened and philosophical with his lessons or teachings, while he delivered his own brand of brutal and harsh punishments in hopes of straightening out the moral compasses for his test subjects.

Going by the trailer, Jackie Earle Haley’s Barry Miller is angry and bitter, because he believes his handpicked contestants are bad people, and he wants to punish them. Maybe Barry Miller wants his contestants to learn something so they can change, but Miller is clearly enjoying torturing his victims. There’s a good chance there’s more to the story, but so far, Barry Miller comes off as a demented sicko, who needs to satisfy his twisted bloodlust.

I’m all in for Your Host. Jackie Earle Haley looks good in the trailer. Lots of teasing for bloody, gory, and brutal violence, and there’s always the chance for a swerve. Is Barry Miller actually the bad guy here? Or, is there chance the contestants got away with doing something horrible, and Barry made the decision to deliver justice outside of the legal system? 

Coming Attractions- Mortal Kombat II

Mortal Kombat (2021) was mostly a misfire for me. I just couldn’t get into it no matter how hard I tried. Cole Young was a boring and bland character. They weirdly tried to put the spotlight on Cole as the next big thing for Mortal Kombat films, and it just didn’t work for me.

The sequel looks far more polished in the trailer. Karl Urban playing Johnny Cage just works on so many different levels, and I love the look and design for Shao Kahn.

It’s mainly a nostalgia thing, but I’ll always prefer the 1995 Mortal Kombat film, and the animated films are always a lot of fun. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is a shining example for top notch quality. 

Visually, the animated films are easily the more successful path for Mortal Kombat film adaptations. The fast cartoonish violence, the gore, showcasing powers, the blood, everything. It’s always going to be difficult to stick the landing for a good Mortal Kombat live action film, because you simply can’t get around certain limitations. But Mortal Kombat II looks good so far, and it’s easy to see Johnny Cage’s arrival will surely give the sequel a more energetic boost and some good laughs. 

Coming Attractions- Do Not Enter

Who could’ve guessed going treasure hunting at a creepy abandoned hotel was a bad idea? And you’re just begging for the worst possible outcomes, when you add in the fact that it’s well known anyone, who steps foot inside the Paragon Hotel mysteriously disappears. I understand The Creepers (the group in the trailer) are supposed to be adventurous thrill-seekers, but at some point common sense has to kick in.

It’s kind of hard to suspend disbelief for horror films that feature a premise, where the main characters could’ve easily avoided danger and life-threatening dilemmas. If the trailer is a sign of things to come, Do Not Enter will be loaded with predictable jump scares. And the group will make one bad decision after another, until it reaches a point, where they realize it’s too late to turn around and walk away. 

Overall, the spooky atmosphere throughout the hotel actually looks good, and the creepy visual with personal belongings hanging from the big tree is a nice touch. The trailer for Do Not Enter starts off with too many baffling bad horror movie choices. Keeping my fingers crossed for a big surprise or a swerve, something that’ll tie up any logical loose ends. Otherwise, it’s safe to say The Creepers got what they deserved, when the credits start rolling. 

Coming Attractions- The Long Walk

 

Director- Francis Lawrence

Release Date- September 12, 2025

It’s a Stephen King adaptation, so that’ll be enough to generate a decent amount of buzz. I haven’t read the novel, but the trailer is promising. Mark Hamill and David Jonsson are easily the standouts, and I’m usually a fan of Francis Lawrence’s films (I Am Legend and Red Sparrow are two of my top picks).

It’ll be interesting to see how they present a movie in a dystopian future that’s about a long marathon, and the deadly consequences, if you can’t keep up. On paper, it sounds like a boring premise, but the trailer does a good of teasing a tense and emotional film, packed with brutal violence. 

Coming Attractions- Now You See Me: Now You Don’t

Release Date- November 14, 2025

The Now You See Me films are strange. Fun and exciting storylines, and excellent casting all around, because everyone perfectly fits their characters, especially Morgan Freeman. Daniel Radcliffe played a solid antagonist in the previous film, as the snotty and entitled brat. But I’ve always had the feeling something was off or missing from Now You See Me (2013) and Now You See Me 2? Maybe it’s just me, but movies about world-class magicians pulling off impossible heists should have a stronger spark, or at least have the feeling of a big must-see event.

A slick and flashy trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, and there’s some strong potential for Rosamund Pike as the villain. Also, there’s a possibility they’re planting some seeds for the future. Jesse Eisenberg is training a younger team, and plans are already in place for another sequel.

Release Date- September 19, 2025

The star quarterback, lured into a dangerous cult, led by Marlon Wayans’ Isaiah White, is a bizarre and intriguing approach for a horror film. There’s always the chance for a big swerve, but going by the trailer, it looks like they’re going with the storyline for a rising star being torn on how much he’s willing to sacrifice for greatness. Maybe there’s some supernatural elements mixed into the story, or there’s a chance Tyriq Withers’ Cameron Cade is simply losing his mind, and hallucinating a lot of the big moments in the trailer during a troubling descent into madness. 

The hot prospect quarterback is the perfect position to go with for the story. You can understand why someone, who’s on the path to making millions from a fat contract and endorsement deals might be tempted to sell his soul to the devil (Isaiah White?) during his quest to become the “G.O.A.T.”

A good trailer for a sports horror film, featuring a sinister and mysterious story. There’s something creepy and unsettling about Marlon Wayans, and I’m wondering if there’s some kind of connection between Cameron’s dad and Isaiah. Seems kind of odd how Cameron’s dad worshipped Isaiah as a big fan, and his son winds up in his exclusive training camp years later. Is there a chance Cameron was the chosen one for more devious reasons?

Jordan Peele’s projects are always worth checking out, if he’s behind the camera, or taking on the role of a producer, because his name instantly brings must-see levels of anticipation. High hopes and big expectations for Him. Horror, an original story, blood, football, AND signs of satanism? Yeah, there’s a good chance Him continues the trend in 2025 for unique horror movies.

Coming Attractions- Death Of A Unicorn

Release Date- March 28, 2025

I’m all in for Death Of A Unicorn. 

Good choices for the cast, with Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Tea Leoni, and Richard E. Grant. Grant seemingly playing a tycoon, who’s obsessed with the secret to immortality is loaded with potential. Usually, you think of unicorns as majestic and awe-inspiring creatures, so flipping the ideas for what everyone expects from unicorns works for a unique and unconventional premise. 

The trailer doesn’t take itself too seriously, a lot of comedic moments, and that’s a good thing. A dark story, or something that’s too serious probably wouldn’t work. Sure, there’s obviously violence involving unicorns, and they’re treated as deadly and serious threats. But on the other side of that, you’re reminded of the mystique for unicorns, creatures that are supposed to exist in their own special realm of individuality. 

Coming Attractions- Jurassic World Rebirth

Release Date- July 2, 2025

The Jurassic World era is strange. Jurassic World 2015 is still the best in the World series, and nothing really comes close. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt shared excellent chemistry together, Vincent D’ Onofrio  played an entertaining jerk, and the Indominus Rex was a great antagonist. Fallen Kingdom had a more emotional story. Still, it’s a weak follow up sequel overall, and the reveal for the  Indoraptor and everything that followed it was kind of disappointing. Dominion? Good nostalgia boosts from Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, but it’s too tamed and kind of dull for a film that features the premise of dinosaurs freely roaming around in the modern world. 

High hopes for Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali’s roles in the cast. Rogue One is still Gareth Edwards’ best film, but he’s also proven himself as a guy, who knows what he’s doing for big monster movies with Godzilla (2014). And I know suspension of disbelief is a thing, but after seven films, maybe you have to accept the fact that dinosaurs are just too dangerous to play around with at some point?

Coming Attractions- The Accountant 2

 

Director- Gavin O’Connor

Release Date- April 25, 2025

Kind of surprised they openly revealed J.K. Simmons’ death.

The original was a nice surprise for me. I didn’t go into it with high expectations, but The Accountant (2016) was a strong action flick. Affleck’s dedication to playing Christian,  hard hitting action sequences, a solid supporting cast, and the story and Christian’s background had some good emotional depth, without being too sappy or cliched. 

The dynamic between Affleck and Jon Bernthal was one of the bigger highlights in the 2016 film. Christian managing his autism and having a more reserved and efficient personality, while Braxton is this hard-nosed rebel, who’s more unpredictable, added another layer of drama, because two brothers are conflicted about how they should react and respond to each other. Braxton is more vulnerable in the trailer, possibly taking a more serious approach for reconnecting with his brother. 

As long as Affleck and Bernthal are willing to do more films, there’s a possibility The Accountant emerges as the next big action movie franchise. And Bernthal’s character is strong enough to stand on his own for a solo film.
