Channing Tatum is playing a cool guy billionaire, who’s the brains behind a seemingly fun getaway with unknown sinister intentions? Or is he? Going by the trailer, you’d have to believe Tatum filling the role of the bad guy is just too straightforward. There’s always the possibility of the narcissistic billionaire conducting some kind of weird, and violent social experiment to test the humanity of all the partygoers. If I had to guess, someone, or almost everyone invited to the island is an imposter, possibly motivated by revenge. That, or Tatum is a sicko elitist, who gets a kick out torturing ordinary people for his own amusement.
It’s a decent and genuinely mysterious trailer, but one eye rolling moment that sticks out for me, is everyone handing their phones over to Geena Davis. Why would you willingly give up your only lifeline, when you’re stuck on an island?
