He’s back! Eddie Murphy is still sharp as Axel Foley in the trailer. There’s some potential for a storyline that involves Foley, Taggart, and Rosewood coming together for what’s presumably one last hurrah.
I’ve always believed Beverly Hills Cop II is the best film in the series, and the hate for Beverly Hills Cop III is overblown. A lot of returning familiar faces, but I don’t get the feeling Axel F will rely too heavily on nostalgia.
They’re staying true to everything that made Beverly Hills Cop a success, while simultaneously progressing the story. Axel is still a daredevil, stumbling through his bad habits, but he’s also trying to navigate a strained relationship with his daughter. Kevin Bacon is a veteran actor, who consistently delivers. And Joseph-Gordon-Levitt should add a refreshing spark to the trio of Foley, Taggart, and Rosewood.
